Reese Witherspoon producing and potentially starring in WHO INVITED HER?
Reese Witherspoon is mostly known in Hollywood for playing lovable, innocent characters, but she’s been making waves recently as a film producer. She has production duties on the upcoming action comedy THIS MEANS WAR, where she stars alongside Chelsea Handler, Tom Hardy, and Chris Pine, and she’s tagged to produce another comedy as well.
Variety reports that Witherspoon is on board to produce WHO INVITED HER?, a comedy themed around a wedding. She might also star in the project as the lead character, a woman insistent upon going to a man’s weekend bachelor party.
DreamWorks nabbed the pitch from Sascha Rothchild, who’ll take over screenwriting duties; the film is to be in the vein of recent sleeper hit BRIDESMAIDS, which has pulled in over $100 million in the States on a $32.5 million budget and is still going strong.
It’s very likely that Witherspoon will star in the film, and if that does happen, you can count me in on this one. Despite being typecast in cutesy, romantic comedy roles , she’s a really terrific and versatile actress, and she could do wonders in a film that meshes together emotional comedy and gross-out humor as BRIDESMAIDS did.
