Release dates for JACK THE GIANT KILLER and ROCK OF AGES announced
Coming on the heels of two release date announcements coming out of the 20th Century Fox camp, WB has now announced two huge release dates of their own.
First, Deadline has revealed that Bryan Singer’s long talked about JACK THE GIANT KILLER will see its premiere on June 15, 2012. Starring a really great cast including Nicholas Hoult, Eleanor Tomlinson, Stanley Tucci, Ewan McGregor and Ian McShane, JACK will go up against the upcoming Andy Samberg/Adam Sandler film I HATE YOU DAD, so it shouldn’t have much competition. The film sounds like a really fantastic little project, and one that’s been waiting in the wings for quite some time now.
On the other side of the spectrum, the studio will release their Adam Shankman-directed musical, ROCK OF AGES, on June 1, 2012. The film will star Tom Cruise, Julianne Hough, Alec Baldwin, and Mary J. Blige, and is based on the famous play, of the same name.
Judd Apatow’s KNOCKED UP spinoff will also hit that weekend, so it will be interesting to see if Universal balks, and moves that film’s release. Personally, I’m far more interested in Singer’s film, but as a musical nerd, if ROCK can hold up, it may be quite a solid picture.
