As you read this, San Francisco's WonderCon is going on. What's that have to do with RESIDENT EVIL: AFTERLIFE? They are the ones responsible for showing the world the first trailer for the film. Last night it premiered and today it has made its way online. Not sure if it's official as some sites are saying "leaked," but others are claiming it's official so I'm going to take my chances. Distributed by Screen Gems and directed by Paul W.S. Anderson (MORTAL KOMBAT, RESIDENT EVIL), AFTERLIFE stars stars Milla Jovovich, Ali Larter, Kim Coates, Shawn Roberts, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Spencer Locke, Boris Kodjoe and Wentworth Miller. It's slated to open (wide) on September 10 in both 3D and 2D formats (shot in AVATAR's REAL 3-D so it won't look as disastrous as CLASH OF THE TITANS' transfer). Check out the trailer after the break and click HERE to see some images from the film.

The scary elements of Resident Evil seem to have disappeared and the action quadrupled (I spy a MATRIX RELOADED nod), but this still looks to be a fun watching experience. Thoughts?

Official Synopsis:
"In a world ravaged by a virus infection, turning its victims into the Undead, Alice (Milla Jovovich), continues on her journey to find survivors and lead them to safety. Her deadly battle with the Umbrella Corporation reaches new heights, but Alice gets some unexpected help from an old friend. A new lead that promises a safe haven from the Undead leads them to Los Angeles, but when they arrive the city is overrun by thousands of Undead and Alice and her comrades are about to step into a deadly trap."
