Ever since the outset, The Lizard has always been on the short list of potential villains when talking about any sort of new Spider-Man film project.

Whether it be as the top contender for the upcoming reboot, or be it Dylan Baker as the man behind the evil reptile, Dr. Curt Connors, the character has always had a home in the greater scheme of the Spider-Man film universe.

Now it's his time to shine, and with one hell of an interesting choice behind it.

The Wrap is reporting that Rhys Ifans, who we found out would be taking up the role of lead villain in the upcoming wall crawler reboot, will in fact be portraying Curt Connors, and his evil alter-ego, The Lizard, for Marc Webb. He joins Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone as the film's primary cast, and personally, I think this is quite a compelling choice.

While I always envisioned Ifans as more of a Vulture than The Lizard, I do genuinely think that he fits this character perfectly. Overall, the film's cast is really shaping up to be a mixture of talented lesser-known actors who deserve this time in the light. Hopefully, the film can live up to this great sense of potential. What do you think?

I don’t know…. I’m okay with their decision on who should play the villian, but the lizard?! Come on; I feel like they could pick a better villain for Spidey to face off with. Especially if the reboot is only going to end up spanning out into a trilogy.
