The Walking Dead is easily one of my most anticipated TV projects for this upcoming season. The onslaught of teasing has officially gone into full force, as it seems new photos are coming out constantly. A few weeks ago we got a couple of the first images of the zombies, then last week we got another. Now they finally gave us something meaty, with this image of Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes, the prime protagonist.

You can check out the full image after the break.

As a die hard fan of The Walking Dead comic, this image greatly excites me because it rings true to the series, at least the beginning of the long running story. The realistic look of the zombies, and this faithful costume really show off the dedication and love being put in this project. AMC is trying to make this a huge project.

Even the creator of the comic, Robert Kirkman is really pleased with the casting. This is what he had to say:

“Writing this book for the past seven years I’ve gotten very close to the character of Rick. Andrew Lincoln embodies every aspect of the character that fans know and love. After seeing this photo I don’t think that there will be a doubt in anyone’s mind that he’s perfect for the role.”

How excited is everyone for The Walking Dead? Does this image excite you even more?

I'm also in the camp that takes a firm stand that a lot of material is better left on the page. That's how I felt about “The Walking Dead”, as well as “Preacher”. That being said, I can't freaking wait for this. I'm going to watch with the comic in hand…which is actually a fun thing to do if you own the DVDs and GN's of stuff like 300, WATCHMEN, SIN CITY…etc.

Yeah, I'm right there with you. It's interesting to see that Kirkman is so excited about the project, since zombie TV shows and movies are exactly why he made “The Walking Dead” in the first place. He wanted a zombie story that theoretically could be never-ending. But from how it seems things are shaping up, I can understand his enthusiasm.

I really can't wait for this show to come out!
