Riley Keough to star in Jim Mickle’s WE ARE WHAT WE ARE
While Hollywood has been all over remakes during the past decade or so, it now seems to have truly hit its breaking point by delving back into the world of cannibalism for yet another revamp.
Screen Daily reports that actress Riley Keough has joined the cast of Jim Mickle’s upcoming remake of the Cannes- approved horror flick SOMO LO QUE HAY (We Are What We Are), and will be joined by Bill Sage and Wyatt Russell.
The film follows a pair of sisters, Keough and actress Julia Garner (MARTHA MARCY MAY MARLENE, ELECTRICK CHILDREN), who are forced by their father following the death of their mother to partake in a ritual that goes back generations in their family. And yes, cannibalism is part of it.
The original film was met with a lot of praise, and personally, that makes this remake all the less vital. I really think that this story is interesting, but given Mickle’s less than impressive STAKE LAND, I’m not sure that he’s the right name for this project. But the cast does seem intriguing, so count me in.
