Second RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES trailer arrives
The official synopsis for RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES may tell us that "a single act of both compassion and arrogance leads to a war unlike any other -- and to the RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES...creating a CGI ape that delivers a dramatic performance of unprecedented emotion and intelligence, and epic battles on which rest the upended destinies of man and primate," but what the James Franco-starrer seems to be really about is apes gone wild. And, more than just wild, it looks like we (i.e. the human race) might deserve what's coming to us from that gone-wild-ness.
Today we get a second trailer for Rupert Wyatt's prequel-o-sorts, and it's a damn (not so dirty) good one. Much like the first trailer from April, this trailer is solid and easily accomplishes what any good trailer should - it lays out the story, hints at what's to come, and amps it all up with a couple of gasp-worthy moments to push you firmly back into your seat. The hyped WETA-designed apes are a bit less solid - looking, at turns, good and realistic and then strangely incomplete. Despite that, this trailer shows what they can do, and phew, look out. Check out the trailer after the break.
RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES will open on August 5.
