Two films about Antonio Vivaldi are in the works

From Germany came Antonio Vivaldi, the legendary composer of Baroque music. Two biopics about him are currently in the works and, making matters even more confusing, is that both films are currently titled VIVALDI.

The Hollywood Reporter tells that Boris Damast’s VIVALDI, which accounts for how the composer made a legitimate orchestra from a group of outcasts, will start filming this September; talent like Jacqueline Bisset, and Alfred Molina are negotiating for roles as Max Irons and Claire Foy are officially attached.

The Patricia Riggen-helmed VIVALDI, which shows Vivaldi’s struggle between devotion to music and priesthood and his love, has no names fully on board just yet. However, Jessica Biel, Luke Evans, and Sir Ben Kingsley are possibilities for roles in the film; David Garrett, an expert violin player, has also been mentioned. There’s no date currently set for filming, although various German funds have provided the film subsidies of around $3 million.

A name change is almost inevitable for one of these films. In the end, it'll likely be Damast's take on the composer that hits theaters first, as its filming date is already set.
