While he’s been primarily directing projects as of late, apparently Robert Redford has had enough of a nearly four year long acting break, and will make his return to acting with a brand new project.

Since his last on screen turn in 2007’s LIONS FOR LAMBS, the director has been hard at work on his next outing, THE CONSPIRATOR, which hits later this year. Now however, Le Parisien is reporting (via The Playlist), that Redford is looking to join Nicolas Vanier’s upcoming adaptation of his novel, L’or sous la neige (Gold In The Snow).

The film would find Redford as a supporting character, a trapper who helps a young American search for gold in the rivers of Alaska.

Vanier isn’t a stranger to crafting films, nor adapting his own material, as his last film, LOUP, was based on the writer’s own source material, and while I’m not familiar with his work, this film does really sound interesting. It goes without saying that Redford is a great thespian, and while it’s been quite some time since he’s shown us his acting chops, this could be just the right project for him to jump back in the saddle with.
