Robert Rodriguez off DEADPOOL?

With Robert Rodriguez busy working on SPY KIDS 4, it appears as though the director’s chair for the upcoming Ryan Reynolds-starring DEADPOOL film may be open.

According to 24 Frames, not only is Rodriguez out of the film’s director’s chair, but Swedish director Adam Berg, who would make this his feature debut, is the top candidate to replace him. Berg is best known for his work on music videos for groups like The Cardigans and A-Ha, as well as a commercial for Philips entitled CAROUSEL which, according to script reports, seems to be a similar type premise to the opening shot of this film’s screenplay.

Personally, while I highly doubt that this film will be made any time in the near future, I do have to say, I like Berg being on the project far more than I do Rodriguez. I adore Rodriguez, don’t get me wrong, but from what I’ve heard on the script, it just doesn’t seem like his type of film. Berg is far from a proven name, but it is quite an interesting decision if Rodriguez does indeed fall through.
