If you were Robert Rodriguez right now, your life would be pretty slammin'. Unfortunately, you're reading about being Robert Rodriguez is going to have to be second best! Why is Rodriguez's life so fantastic? Because he one of the last remaining men who can pull off a bolo tie? Because leather cowboy hats have never looked so good on one man? While these are both true, mainly it is awesome to be Rodriguez because you get to make awesome movies.

According to the latest issue of Production Weekly, Rodriguez has been offered the DEADPOOL movie by 20th Century Fox. It's just an offer. Will he take it? Check out more after the break.

20th Century Fox has been incredibly kind to Rodriguez lately, and with both PREDATORS and MACHETE on the horizon, it seems only natural they would want to keep the lucrative relationship alive. It's likely they have also offered DEADPOOL to other directors as well, but Rodriguez seems to be their first choice. DEADPOOL is the famous Marvel anti-hero whose character was last destroyed in the X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE film. Ryan Reynolds is still attached to play the "merc with a mouth."

I actually think that a DEADPOOL film directed by Rodriguez would be perfect. There is a cowboy-esque tone to most of Rodriguez's films that would match up nicely with the sword- and gun-toting character. However, it's unlikely that Rodriguez would take on the project, in my opinion.

Rodriguez recently turned down the PLANET OF THE APES reboot. To me, this means he would rather be behind the camera on a project of his own creation rather than another person's intellectual property (PREDATORS). His NERVEWRACKERS film has never been closer to production, and I would guess Rodriguez would like to jump behind that project while its still hot. Of course, Rodriguez is often a loose cannon and might just jump on board with DEADPOOL.

Would you like to see Robert Rodriguez direct a DEADPOOL film? Should he stick to a project of his own creation? Leave your thoughts below.
