Robert Rodriguez says a PREDATORS sequel is on the way
No, it won’t be PREDATORS VS MACHETE, or CRITTERS VS PREDATORS, or any other ridiculous match up our stoned, comic book obsessed brains can imagine. In fact, Robert Rodriguez isn’t sure what the sequel to PREDATORS will even be about, but he has some ideas even if he doesn’t have a title yet.
Check out what he said, after the jump.
“[The studio] said, ‘Let’s do some other ones. What other story ideas do you have?’” spouts Rodriguez. “Because it was like, let’s test out the market with this one. They really wanted it to be pretty contained, pretty scaled-back. They didn’t want to put too many of the ideas into it that we could save for a second one. So we could see what the appetite was, because the bigger movie would actually be what comes following that. That kind of sets up a new storyline, new location and world, and then you can really go crazy from there.”
Given the fact that PREDATORS has just managed to earn enough cash at the Box Office to cover its budget, it seems unlikely that FOX is ready to give Rodriguez and Troublemaker Studios even more money to make a bigger film. Perhaps FOX would be more willing to do so if Rodriguez himself stepped behind the camera to direct.
