Roberto Benigni to have a role in Woody Allen’s WRONG PICTURE?
If there is anyone to bring back the name of Roberto Benigni and put it firmly into the limelight, it’s Woody Allen.
Deadline is reporting that the LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL star is set to take a role in Allen’s upcoming film, THE WRONG PICTURE. He will, if confirmed, join Jesse Eisenberg, Ellen Page, Alec Baldwin, and Penelope Cruz in the Rome-set feature.
Allen himself will also have a small role in the upcoming film, so the chance that we may ultimately see the two on the screen together is absolutely amazing. With the failures that were PINOCCHIO and THE TIGER AND THE SNOW, Benigni has been busy doing stand up in Italy, something that the Chaplin-esque actor has become massively popular for.
Personally, I love this news. I think Benigni is a really talented comedic thespian, in a very “old school” kind of, silent film style way, and could give a really interesting style to this film. I love the cast of this project and where it is going, so here’s to hoping this one can get made quick, because frankly, I can’t wait for this thing.
