Rooney Mara is Lisbeth Salander for David Fincher’s THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO
Finally, we all can rest easy.
According to Deadline (and now confirmed by Sony themselves), the hunt for Lisbeth Salander for David Fincher’s upcoming take on the famous novel, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, has ended, and in a move that has been telegraphed for a while now.
Rooney Mara, who will be seen in Fincher’s next film, THE SOCIAL NETWORK, has been a part of the talks since the very beginning, and while many reports saw her name out of discussions, when it finally came down to it, she and Emily Browning became the two finalists for what is best described as the biggest role in Hollywood.
While bigger names have been mentioned, like Carey Mulligan and Ellen Page, personally, I think they went the right route. The actress definitely has the look of the character, and while late additions to the game, like Katie Jarvis and the aforementioned Browning may have more experience, I do have to say, this is one hell of a choice, particularly when looking at what will be asked of her. She’s far more than just a tattooed hacker, and being opposite Daniel Craig, I can’t help but think that Fincher may have found gold with this project. It’s similar in tone to something like SE7EN, Fincher’s best film, so this is far and away my most anticipated film coming down the line.
