Rufus Sewell set for villain role in ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER
In "hey, this sounds kinda cool" casting news, Variety is exclusively reporting that Rufus Sewell has been cast as the main vamp in ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER. He will, obviously, be hunted down by our 16th president. Because that is something that happened. Historically. In our country. Whatever.
Sewell (DARK CITY, A KNIGHT'S TALE, THE TOURIST) will be playing the character of Adam, and he joins young Benjamin Walker as the titular vampire-hunting prez. The rest of the, admittedly impressive, cast includes Dominic Cooper, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Anthony Mackie, Jimmi Simpson, Alan Tudyk, and Robin McLeavy. Sewell is a good pick for a baddie, having played one pretty consistently throughout his career (even in the rom-com variety, see his chilling work in THE HOLIDAY).
The film will be directed by Timur Bekmambetov (WANTED). The script comes from Seth Grahame-Smith's novel of the same name, with the author also doing scriptwriting duties. Grahame-Smith is the author to thank (?) for his clever rewrites of classic novels and stories that interject them with supernatural elements (his Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is also going the big screen route soon).
The film will open on June 22, 2012.
