Captain Kirk and now maybe Robocop? It's like Chris Pine is trying to get me to have a man-crush on him.

Since Jose Padilha signed on to direct the ROBOCOP remake, MGM has been laying low as the script was getting a final polish, and now it looks like the wheels are turning again. According to Twitch, the studio is beginning to compile its wish list of actors to take the lead role. At the top of that list? Chris (stubble-face) Pine.

Here's the direct quote from Twitch:

"Twitch has learned that the Star Trek actor is the studio’s top choice to take the lead in the upcoming reboot of the scifi franchise. There is no word as to whether director Jose Padilha agrees with the selection and the offer has not yet gone out but we’re told Pine currently tops the MGM casting list."

Should Pine land the role, I will call him up and cuddle with him on a rainy Sunday afternoon while THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY plays on the living room TV. Giving the role of Robocop to Chris Pine means that the studio will be aiming for a "younger vibe." This isn't all that surprising since the age of the middle-aged action hero is long over. In the case of ROBOCOP, I don't think it makes any difference whatsoever how old he is, as long as people explode into a billion tiny pieces.
