Russell Brand in final negotiations for ROCK OF AGES
With filming set to start next month, ROCK OF AGES has nearly rounded out it's leading cast. Having just locked in their leading man Diego Boneta, the last big name hold out seems to be Russell Brand, who's in "final negotiations" to join the cast as Lonnie, the manager of The Bourbon.
For more on the role and the state of the film, keep reading after the break.
Riding high off the impressive debut of HOP this weekend, Brand would be smart to finalize this project before ARTHUR opens. Not that it'll flop necessarily, but it's a risk that would affect his bottom line.
Brand would likely play the role of Lonnie, who runs the 80s rock club, The Bourbon where much of the show takes place. Alec Baldwin is confirmed to play Dennis, the owner of the club.
Brand joins a cast including Paul Giamatti, Tom Cruise, Julianne Hough, Mary J. Blige, and Amy Adams.
ROCK OF AGES will start shooting in Florida next month and will hit theaters on June 1, 2012.
