What do you get when you take a incredibly original and thought provoking film from new comer Richard Kelley staring Jake Gyllenhall and a bunny from the future named Frank? DONNIE DARKO!

Now what do you get when you take away the incredibly original, the thought provoking, the Richard Kelly, the Jakey G. and the bunny but you keep the sister, the objects falling from the sky, the ABYSS-like watery worm and the invisible force fields? S. DARKO!

Check out the first trailer for the sequel to DONNIE DARKO after the jump, in all its end of the world glory!

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't at least interested to see this. However, I am skeptical. It looks as if they took all the stunning visuals from the first film, multiplied them by 100 and took the story in a horror genre direction. What do you guys think? Does S. DARKO look like it has the potential to be good?

i think it looks at least 4x better than what i was expecting it to look like, and managed to not scare me away from giving it a shot. i still have low expectations, but i’m curious enough to still watch it.

    wow this looks bad.

Looks pretty awful… but I can’t help it, I love the original so much that I’m pretty sure I’ll see this.

PS They actually did an ok job replacing Gyllenhall, the dude playing Donnie (if army coat dude is Donnie) looks a lot like him

nevermind, the dude’s called “Iraq Jack” on IMDB not donnie… could have fooled me. A movie this random I wouldn’t have been surprised if they brought donnie back somehow
