Sacha Gervasi attached to helm Alfred Hitchcock biopic
From rock documentary to biopic of an iconic film and filmmaker, apparently director Sacha Gervasi is looking to make a much bigger splash than the one caused by his well-loved, but far too romantic documentary, ANVIL! THE STORY OF ANVIL.
Gervasi is currently in talks with Ivan Retiman’s Montecito Pictures to helm the shingle’s long talked-about Alfred Hitchcock biopic, based on the novel Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho,by Stephen Rebello.
The film was originally set to be helmed by Ryan Murphy with Anthony Hopkins somewhat attached to the lead role, and Helen Mirren in the role of Hitchcock’s wife. That film’s script had been looked over by names like Rebello himself, and even BLACK SWAN scribe John McLaughlin (who did rewrites and revisions on the beloved 2010 release), so at this point it remains to be seen just what to expect from the project.
This joins his Herve Villechaize biopic, MY DINNER WITH HERVE, on the director’s slate, but it goes without saying that not only does this one seem like a much likelier next film for the filmmaker, and it’s also a far more compelling one.
