And with this news, I officially need to make a Snow White project flowchart.

Deadline has broken the news that Universal "is setting" Sam Claflin in the role of the prince for Rupert Saunders' SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN - to which I say, "wait, there's a prince in there, too?" For those of us still not quite clear on the differences between this and Tarsem's Snow White project, this is the one that features Kristen Stewart as Snow White and Charlize Theron as the queen. In this reimagining, the titular huntsman is ordered by the queen to kill Snow White, but ends up letting her go. The film's IMDb page also mentions something about the pair of them being chained together at some point. I smell love triangle. The huntsman role has been bandied about with some high-wattage actors, but was recently reported to have been offered to THOR's Chris Hemsworth.

Claflin will next be see in PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES, and may look familiar to people who saw his work on cable miniseries, The Pillars of the Earth.

The film will start filming in March. SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN currently has a December 21, 2012 release date set.

In regards to that other Snow White film, that is Tarsem Singh's THE BROTHERS GRIMM: SNOW WHITE, set to star Lily Collins, Armie Hammer, and Julia Roberts. No huntsman there. That film will hit screens in June of 2012.
