Sam Worthington and sci-fi apparently go hand-in-hand.

Whether it is AVATAR or something like TERMINATOR: SALVATION, Worthington has made his name in the world of science fiction, and now, he’s heading back to the well.

Deadline is reporting that Worthington will lead a new project from writer Aaron Guzkowski, best known for his insanely hyped Black List-approved screenplay, PRISONERS. All that we know about this film is that it will be a “grounded space war film,” and that it’s being set up at WB.

While I haven’t been massively impressed with what I’ve seen from Worthington, that may very well change with films like THE DEBT and the upcoming THE FIELDS, so this is definitely a film I’m interested in. Guzkowski is one of the hottest names amongst the Hollywood writing world, and while this premise may sound relatively cliché, it is definitely an intriguing project.

That said, without knowing more, it’s hard to get all that excited for a film that, for all intents and purposes, sounds like your run-of-the-mill sci-fi actioner. What do you think?
