Scarlett Johansson to play Janet Leigh in THE MAKING OF PSYCHO
When it comes to classic horror, not much can top the Hitchcock-helmed PSYCHO, and thanks to director Sacha Gervasi, you'll be able to get a glimpse into the making of the classic film.
According to Variety, Gervasi has selected bombshell Scarlett Johansson to play Janet Leigh, and James D'Arcy to play Anthony Perkins in ALFRED HITCHCOCK AND THE MAKING OF PSYCHO. The man himself will be played by AnthonyHopkins (presumably a beefed up or makeup heavy Perkins), and his wife Alma will be played by Helen Mirren. The film will follow Hitchcock and the struggles he endured during the filming of PSYCHO.
Variety goes on to say that the film is already drawing comparisons to MY WEEK WITH MARILYN, stating that the same accolades given to Michelle Williams could be lauded upon Johansson.
The film is being developed under the auspices of Fox Searchlight and produced by Ivan Reitman, Joe Medjuck, and Tom Pollack under their Montecito Picture Company banner. The script was written by John McLaughlin and Tom Thayer.
