A prequel to the two live-action Scooby-Doo films will be going straight-to-DVD and the Cartoon Network in fall of 2009 entitled Scooby Doo: The Beginning. The original 2002 and 2004 theatrical releases have made $458 million in box office revenues internationally.

The film will tell of the “original formation of Scooby-Doo's mismatched group of teenage and canine mystery solvers as they seek to expose what's really haunting their high school.”

It is being released through Warner Premiere and begins filming on Monday in Vancouver. Brian Levant is directing from a script written by Daniel and Steven Altiere. Brian Gilbert will be producing the project.
