Scoot McNairy

Deadline reports that Scoot McNairy (MONSTERS) has been cast in a lead role in the upcoming COGAN’S TRADE.

He joins an amazing cast that includes Brad Pitt, Sam Rockwell, Casey Affleck, James Gandolfini, Richard Jenkins, Ray Liotta, and Vincent Curatola. Andrew Domink is set to direct the feature adaptation of the pulp crime novel by George V. Higgins. The story follows a “mob enforcer (Pitt) trying to track down the thieves who ripped off a high stakes card game.”

McNairy’s last big role in MONSTERS appears to have put its team on the map. The small indie horror/thriller only cost $200 million to film and has blown up since its release. Before this, director Gareth Edwards landed a gig directing GODZILLA for Legendary Pictures. McNairy is in high demand with two other projects at Fox. He’s in the running for a lead in the Ridley Scott’s PROMETHEUS. He’s also circling the role of Josh Speed in the Timur Bekmambetov-directed ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER.

I am looking forward to seeing all of these films. What are your thoughts on this casting news?
