Screenwriter David Goyer addresses BATMAN 3

To follow up on the bold claims that Gary Oldman made at at Comic-Con this past weekend (he essentially said the film would start production next year), MTV asked screenwriter David S. Goyer on what he feels the status of a third BATMAN film is.

Here's what Goyer had to say:

"Right now, Chris is involved in filming INCEPTION. And when he finishes that, he will turn his studious gaze back to the Bat universe and we'll see."

Not much in the way of a compelling news story, but it's topical and people, I included, love to follow every step of the way with a film like BATMAN. As I hypothesized the other day, it is highly unlikely that the next BATMAN would start shooting so soon, as Christopher Nolan would be busy finishing INCEPTION. Not to mention the fact that Nolan is one of the few respectable directors left these days that does not feel the need to make a film just because. He takes his time. He's meticulous. He's thoughtful and careful with the film, its characters, their story, and the audience's response to the final product. Which all explains THE DARK KNIGHT.

For now, we at least have another Nolan original to look forward to (July 16th, 2010), this one starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Remember what happened last time we got a Nolan original after a BATMAN film? I do. It was a little film called THE PRESTIGE and it was magical, pun definitely intended!

About James Wallace

A / S / L? 25 / M / Dallas! My life began on December 29th, 1984 as I was forged from a fiery pit deep in Mount Doom, in a very nice upscale area of Mordor. I was then taken across the galaxy to live on a farm in the desert with my aunt and uncle (shout out to my kin folk on Tatooine). That is until tragedy struck and they passed away from being murdered. Left with only hopes, dreams and a passion for magic, I decided to pursue my life long dream of getting a formal education. Succeeding in my dream, I am a recent graduate of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, in which I earned a bachelor’s degree in Magic Arts & Science. I now reside on the beautiful Isla Nublar, in the very pleasant suburb of Jurassic Park: Site 2. I am accompanied by my lovely paleontologist fiance, our two adopted children and hundreds of dinosaurs. In my free time I enjoy recovering lost artifacts and putting them in their rightful place…a museum! I also enjoy traveling back in time with my kooky, older but wiser best friend, hunting killer shark, finding replicants, busting ghosts, and riding bikes with my homeboy Extra T. My pet peeves are species that think they can get all in your face, implant their views into you and then just use you only to get rid of you and all your other space marine friends. I am also a huge supporter of equal rights for humans and the fight to oppose the fascist government Skynet.
