Sean Penn to star in GENIUS
Talk about coming back from a break.
After taking just about a year off after winning the Oscar for his turn as Harvey Milk in Gus Van Sant’s fantastic and powerful film, MILK, Sean Penn not only has the film FAIR GAME on its way to theaters, and the start of production on his next role in Paolo Sorrentino’s upcoming thriller, THIS MUST BE THE PLACE, but THR is reporting he has a new film on the horizon.
The outlet is reporting that Penn will star in the upcoming adaptation of the A. Scott Berg novel, Max Perkins: Editor Of Genius, a film called GENIUS. Penn will star as Perkins, the literary editor of Scribners, who ultimately discovered and aided people like F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway.
Personally, while I don’t know much about the project, the fact that the premise sounds really interesting, the script is from the 2007 Black List, and that Penn is easily one of the best actors working today, has me more than interested in checking this thing out.
The film apparently once had Lawrence Kasdan directing, but has since lost him as a director, and will now see producer Bill Pohlad, who produced INTO THE WILD, FAIR GAME, and THE TREE OF LIFE with Penn, will direct the film.
More on this project as it comes.
