See Hilary Swank, Sam Rockwell, Melissa Leo, and Minnie Driver in the trailer for CONVICTION
Woah. It isn’t very often that a film trailer makes you question every decision you’ve ever made in your life. But that is what the trailer for CONVICTION has done for me. Maybe there is something in the air today, but this thing literally gave me goose pimples.
Based on the true story, CONVICTION follows Betty Anne Waters’ (Hilary Swank) and her older brother Kenny (Sam Rockwell) after he is arrested for murder and sentenced to life without parole in 1983. Betty Anne, a Massachusetts wife and mother of two, dedicates her life to exonerating her brother starting with getting her GED, a bachelor’s degree, and finally becoming a lawyer. With the help of her best friend Abra Rice (Minnie Driver), Betty Anne scours the evidence mounted by cop Nancy Taylor (Melissa Leo), retracing the steps that led to Kenny’s arrest. Her unwavering belief in her brother’s innocence is what drives Betty Anne.
CONVICTION stars Hilary Swank, Sam Rockwell, Melissa Leo, and Minnie Driver and is directed by Tony Goldwyn. Check out the trailer after the break.

Wasn’t that a tearjerker of a trailer? You best believe I will be avoiding this film at all costs in theater. I can’t be seen with mascara running down my face. I resist all forms of feel good, inspirational cinema in the theater as I have a reputation to protect. But it does look like there are some strong performances in this thing. Is there an Oscar worthy performance in it for Rockwell? Could it mean another Oscar for Hilary Swank? That remains to be seen.
CONVICTION hits theaters on October 15, 2010.
