Shane Black up for IRON MAN 3?
While this should be taken with the biggest grain of salt, apparently Marvel sure as hell knows how to fill vacant seats.
After director Jon Favreau left the franchise late last year, speculation as to who would jump aboard the much beloved IRON MAN film franchise has been at a fever pitch.
Well, thanks to THR, we now know that one of the names Marvel is looking at to helm the film is none other than Shane Black.
The outlet has revealed that the writer/director is “in contention” to not only direct, but also write, the third film in the IRON MAN franchise for the studio. Other writers and directors are being looked at, but it gives you an interesting glimpse as to who Marvel is looking at, knowing what type of filmmaker Black is. He’s long been talked about as jumping into bigger budget fare, and honestly, this is a pitch perfect spot for him to do just that. Even star Robert Downey Jr. has worked with Black before on KISS KISS BANG BANG.
At this point, that’s all the speculation that should be really done. It’s an interesting choice, and one that will likely be made in the coming months, as the film is set to hit theaters on May 3, 2013.
