When you make the greatest time travel film in the history of cinema, you have some pull with regards to those trying to do something within the genre.

Apparently that is the case with Shane Carruth who, after his masterpiece, PRIMER, is set to team up with one of film’s hottest young filmmakers, Rian Johnson.

The actor/director, who apparently is still working on his follow-up project (a film entitled A TOPIARY), has teamed up with Johnson on Johnson’s latest film, LOOPER, and will be doing some effects work on the film’s time travel sequences.

For those who may not know, LOOPER is a time travel film that looks at a world where mobsters send people back in time to be killed before they even existed (I know, sounds amazing), and has apparently also had Carruth’s eyes on the script (if an episode of the /Filmcast is to be believed), so this could be one hell of a time travel film. I’m a huge fan of Johnson and Carruth, and the combination of the two may just be far too amazing. I can’t wait to see this damn thing.

What do you think?
