SHERLOCK HOLMES 2 now titled SHERLOCK HOLMES: A GAME OF SHADOWS
I guess Hollywood loves their colon-filled movie titles.
According to IGN, the upcoming sequel to 2009’s SHERLOCK HOLMES will be joining fellow colon-filled 2011 releases like TRANSFORMERS: THE DARK OF THE MOON and THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN: THE SECRET OF THE UNICORN (among others), and will from here on out be known as SHERLOCK HOLMES: A GAME OF SHADOWS.
Now, while titles themselves have no effect on the overall enjoyment of the film, this definitely doesn’t make this average Joe want to check out the film. Personally, I don’t mind the rather expository title, but for sequels, I’d much rather just have a number after the franchise name. That is the epitome of a nitpick, but at this point, it just seems really uninteresting.
That said, the film features a great cast, including Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, Noomi Rapace, Stephen Fry, and Jared Harris, so all may be forgotten come December 16.
