Simon West director of Con Air and Medallion

Simon West is going to be very busy. The director of CON AIR and LARA CROFT: TOMB RAIDER has a Jason Statham-starring remake of the Charles Bronson movie THE MECHANIC set to be released next year and is gearing up to shoot PROTECTION with Dwayne Johnson. But even with those and other projects currently in development, he's already been hired to follow those with an action film in the vein of TAKEN.

The film is titled MEDALLION and based on a script by former US Weekly journalist David Guggenheim. All we know about the plot is that it revolves around a father who struggles to find his daughter after she's kidnapped and put in the trunk of an unidentified New York City taxi. 24 Frames reports that McG has signed on as a producer and several high-profile actors, including Nicolas Cage and Clive Owen, have already been approached as potential leads.

I'm cynical about anything McG touches, but CON AIR had some fun moments. Plus, West also apparently directed this, and that's a good sign, right? What do you think?
