SKATELAND trailer hits the rinks
Our very own James Wallace loved SKATELAND when he saw it at DIFF last year; giving it a very nice 4.5 out 5 (his review). The film just missed our West Coast Editor Kate Erbland's Top 10 of 2010, but got a nice Honorable Mention nod.
Finally MTV has released the trailer for SKATELAND to give those of you not lucky enough to catch it at a festival just a taste of what all the fuss is about. SKATELAND - which saw its premiere at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival - is a coming of age tale starring Ashley Greene, Shiloh Fernandez, Heath Freeman, Taylor Handley, Haley Ramm, and A.J. Buckley.
Set in a small East Texas town, SKATELAND follows a group of friends as they are confronted with impending adulthood. The friends deal with strained parental relationships, drug and alcohol fueled reckless behavior, and the closing of their favorite local hangout. From watching the trailer, I'm sure SKATELAND will draw comparisons to ADVENTURELAND and DAZED AND CONFUSED. But for some reason, I can't really get excited about this one. That being said, the rave reviews it received from my GATW colleagues makes it a must-see. Check out the trailer after the break and decide for yourself.
