SMURFS cast gets all the more interesting; Keenan Thompson, Fred Armisen, John Oliver, Jeff Foxworthy, and B.J. Novak added
Damn this SMURFS movie. I tried to write it off immediately, the world doesn’t need it. No way. But I want to give whoever is in charge of casting this thing a big hug. The casting of this movie is the only reason I would ever see it despite how cute the sneak peek images of THE SMURFS look. I’m a grown-up and I didn’t particularly care for The Smurfs in my youth. There was only one chick and she wasn’t a proper female role model in my opinion.
You’d think a cast that includes the likes of Paul Reubens, Neil Patrick Harris, Hank Azaria, Anton Yelchin, Katy Perry, George Lopez, Alan Cumming, Wolfgang Puck, Gary Basaraba, and Jonathan Winters couldn’t get any more interesting. But THE SMURFS is really pushing the envelope in bizarre casting announcements. Today comes news that a handful of comedians have signed on to lend their voices to the film.
SNL’s Kenan Thompson has signed on to be the voice of Greedy Smurf along with cast mate Fred Armisen who will voice Brainy Smurf. John Oliver of The Daily Show will voice Vanity Smurf, The Office’s BJ Novak will voice Baker Smurf and Jeff Foxworthy will be the voice of Handy Smurf.
THE SMURFS is currently shooting in New York City.

The more casting announcements made about this particular film, the more interested I seem to become. Surely a crappy script wouldn’t attract such talented individuals right? I guess that remains to be seen.
