Something’s got a hold on Christina Aguilera in this BURLESQUE clip
No one is denying that Christina Aguilera can sing. Can she act? That remains to be seen. The first trailer for BURLESQUE was released about a week ago, and from that we learned that there is a world where burlesque dancing is a young girl's dream and it can make you a star.
I'm still unconvinced by what I've seen so far from BURLESQUE. It has GLITTER or SHOWGIRLS potential at best in my opinion. Now there is a clip from the film that really drives home that point. The clip features Aguilera alone in a room belting out "Something's Got A Hold On Me." I still prefer the Etta James version of this song, because I don't feel like Aguilera brings anything new to the delivery. I find it hard to believe that she is painfully in love, her movements and performance are too stiff and you can tell that she is performing to a recording of herself singing. Check out the clip after the jump.
And because I like to prove a point, you can see Etta James' version of the song below.

BURLESQUE tells the story of Ali (Aguilera), a small-town girl with big city dreams and an even bigger voice. She escapes her past by performing in an burlesque club in L.A. but soon finds that stardom isn't everything she thought it would be.
The film features the likes of Cher, Stanley Tucci, Julianne Hough, and Kristen Bell, and is directed by Steven Antin.
BURLESQUE hits theaters on November 24, 2010.
