With the film’s cast beginning to slowly fill out (both Javier Bardem and Ralph Fiennes are connected to respective roles), we may finally know who will be helping to bring us the long awaited 23rd entry in the James Bond film franchise.

Deadline is reporting that Sony is set to land the film, with the deal currently being brokered including MGM, now led by Gary Barber and Roger Birnbaum, heads of Spyglass, getting the chance to co-finance the upcoming THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO.

This follows news that revealed that Paramount had apparently left discussions to pick up the project, leaving the door open for Sony to swoop in and nab the film up, and the giant piles of cash that will come with it.

Now, while this may not mean much to you and I, this does really bode well for both companies. Sony will get a bit of cash, as will MGM with DRAGON TATTOO, something that the company is in dire need of. Here’s to hoping we get more news on this project really soon, and this deal may help MGM get back on their feet and bring us more films from the franchises that make up their fantastic back log.
