Sony Pictures Classics has acquired the North American distribution rights to Mandate Pictures' domestic drama GREAT HOPE SPRINGS, starring Meryl Streep, Tommy Lee Jones, and Steve Carell.

GREAT HOPE SPRINGS centers on a married couple who, after thirty years of marriage, attend an intense counseling weekend to examine the intimacy issues threatening their relationship.

David Frankel, who helmed comedies MARLEY & ME and THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA, is attached to direct from a script penned by up-and-coming screenwriter Vanessa Taylor.

Film 360 and Escape Artists will co-produce and finance, with production expected to begin in August.
