Sony Pictures picks up MACHETE
This is the only photo of MACHETE known to the Internets.
Not only is Fantastic Fest taking place in Austin at the end of this week and all of next, but Robert Rodriguez's MACHETE is in production there as we speak. With a killer cast made up of Danny Trejo, Robert De Niro, Lindsay Lohan, Don Johnson, Steven Seagal, Jessica Alba, Cheech Marin, Michelle Rodriguez, and Rose McGowan, I'm crossing my chubby little fingers that I bump into one or all of them.
According to Variety, Sony Pictures has picked up the distribution rights to MACHETE. This isn't too much of a surprise, as Sony also distributed the other three films in Rodriguez's "Mexico Trilogy" - EL MARIACHI, DESPERADO, and ONCE UPON A TIME IN MEXICO.
MACHETE stars Danny Trejo as, yep, you guessed it, "Machete," an assassin who gets double-crossed by his business partners, so he sets out to kill every one of them - with a machete.
