David Fincher

With the film only six months away from its release, Sony has kickstarted the promotional machine for their much-talked about remake of THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO.

Helmed by David Fincher, the studio released an unrated trailer overseas already, and while it hasn’t hit the web yet (we will update with any embed that gets released) a description of the spot has hit IMDB (via /Film), and it sounds quite interesting:

"So a few thoughts on this, anyone that is worried about it not following the Orginal/book can put that worry to bed. This looks to be as graphic if not more then the orginal. The trailer consists of a bunch of quick cuts of scenes from the movie. Alot of things from the Orginal that we only see in still photos and hear characters talk about are actually filmed and shown. Any worry about Rooney Mara not looking the part don’t need to worry. There is a shot in the trailer of her topless pulling on a shirt much like Noomi Rapace does in the others. Mara looks the part for sure. Skinny as Rapace, only thing it looks like they may have done is toned down the punk look some. But not alot. Not sure what else to say other then the trailer was very intense, it was set to Led Zeppelins immigrant song."

The studio will be releasing a teaser for the film on Thursday of next week, which should be playing in theaters that weekend.

The film stars Rooney Mara, and sounds like one hell of a remake. As a fan of Fincher and particularly his works like SE7EN, this sounds like it could be a great mix of that classic thriller and his brilliant ZODIAC, making this film easily the most interesting film to be released this year. More on this as it comes.
