SPIDER-MAN reboot might reunite Peter Parker with his parents

Not only do we have the largely unnecessary reboot coming our way, but it now appears that the story of Peter Parker we know and love is being reworked. Word has it that Sony is looking to cast an 8 or 9 year old actor to play a young Peter Parker in a scene involving his actual parents. In the classic Marvel origin story, Mary and Richard Parker were killed when Peter was still only a baby.

If this pans out, we will see how Peter ended up being raised by Aunt May and Uncle Ben. The question is: Does anybody really care?

This sounds like a scene destined for DVD extra features, and seeing how ill-conceived the absurd return of Peter's parents in the comics were (they had amnesia and forgot they had a kid?), it doesn't really sound like a good move for the studio unless they're actually trying to increase fan backlash even more.

In the meantime, at least we have the Julie Taymor-directed Broadway adaptation to look forward to...as long as the stuntmen survive long enough to actually put on a show. Sheesh.
