Spielberg says Transformers 2 is Bay’s best work

Well, the title says it all. The great Steven Spielberg watched a cut of TRANSFORMERS 2 with Michael Bay and said it was "awesome." But I pose this question to you: should we even care? I distinctly remember when Spielberg was a Comic Con talking about Indy 4, promising that it was a movie he was making for us fans, and I believed him. I went into that dark movie theater a few months later feeling like a kid again and I left feeling 40 years old. I honestly do not trust Spielberg's word anymore. This is what Bay had to say in his blog:

"Steven Spielberg sat next to me in a big 100 person theater at Sony today. There were 98 empty seats. The lights came up after we just watched my cut of Revenge of the Fallen. He turned to me and said "It's awesome." He felt this movie was better then the first - and probably my best, who knows - at this point in a movie you start to lose your objectivity. I just hope the fans like it. I'm going to start putting it in front of audiences in a few weeks - no you are not invited, yet."

Whether or not the movie is good remains to be seen. Personally, I'm rooting for the picture. I grew up on Transformers, and I didn't like Bay's last effort. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
