IESB has an exclusive report claiming that the incomparable Steven Spielberg, a supposed avid gamer, is in talks with studio executives to produce a film adaptation of the best-selling Xbox game, HALO. The film was thought to be completely scrapped after the one-time producer/director combo of Peter Jackson and Neill Blomkamp stepped away from the project and later went on to create DISTRICT-9, one of the summer's most anticipated sci-fi flicks.  This bit of news that Spielberg is really trying to produce the film is certainly an excellent way to start the week!

Spielberg read a copy of the script that was penned by Stuart Beattie and is believed to love the origin story and is excited to get involved with the picture.  If you're not a fan of the game and don't really know the backstory it entails, Beattie's HALO: THE FALL OF REACH tells how a young child is kidnapped raised to become the ultimate Spartan-like warrior and is the sole survivor of an alien attack on an important base ship known as the Reach.  Beattie's script also has important details concerning the eventual sequels that could follow the first film.

I've never really played Halo because first person shooters make me nauseous and I'm really bad at them, but I know it has a great story and a film version of it will no doubt have incredible action.  If Spielberg eventually does produce it, I'm certain it will be not only a huge blockbuster, but an actually good movie!  We'll try to keep you guys updated on the news of this as it reaches us.  Until then, let me know what you guys think about this in the comments!

Your description of Reach's story made me giggle, not gonna lie. That just shows what a nerd I am, though.
