Stanley Tucci

How many times are they going to make the "I'm not a girl, not yet a woman" small town girl with big city dreams movie? I get that nowadays everyone wants to be a star, but do we really need another COYOTE UGLY, CROSSROADS, or SHOWGIRLS? Is this what we want young girls to aspire to? Steven Antin (aka Troy Perkins from THE GOONIES) seems to think so.

In an amusing bit of casting news, it has been announced that Stanley Tucci will play a club manager in the new musical "chick flick," BURLESQUE, which will also star Christina Aguilera and Cher. The plot focuses on the relationship between an aging dancer (Cher) and her young protege (Aguilera). As burlesque is the classy cousin to
dollars-in-the-g-string stripping, that is what I am guessing Tucci's performance will be - holding down the acting fort while Cher and Augilera just flaunt their other talents.

The movie was written and will be directed by Antin. Mr. Antin is also responsible for such deplorable television shows as the "Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious" and "The Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the Next Doll." Antin comes from a long line of burlesque lovers. His sister Robin Antin is the creator and choreographer of The Pussycat
Dolls, and I suspect was his motivation for penning this script.

In August, Briana Evigan expressed to Kate some interest in also appearing in the film, but there's no word on Evigan's involvement as of yet.
