Stephanie Meyer optioning DOWN A DARK HALL

From writing a much maligned, otherworldly book series to penning big screen adaptations of ‘70s young adult novels, author Stephanie Meyer has had one hell of an odd and polarizing career.

Showblitz is reporting that Meyer has optioned the rights to the 1974 novel, "Down A Dark Hall", with the plan to turn it into a feature film.  The piece follows the students at a haunted boarding school. When a new girl shows up, she is thrust right into the middle, forced to face it all.

TWILIGHT producer Wyck Godfrey is on board here as well, but don’t expect to see this film anytime soon. The novel is currently being optioned and things are progressing slowly at this point.  Given Meyer’s fame, that may very well change.

Frankly, I hope not.  I don’t think she’s all that gifted a writer, and honestly, this premise sounds aggressively uninteresting.  Could just be me though.

What do you think?
