Steve Carell gets smarter
Remember the days when Steve Carell was just another correspondent on ‘The Daily Show’? Well, those anonymous days are over and he’s got the Warner Bros. deal to prove it. The exclusive three year first-look deal he has signed with the studio means that he can start taking on projects with Carousel Productions, the company he formed with long-time friends Vance DeGeneres and Charlie Hartsock. I think we can all agree that when a multi-talented person starts getting some creative control, its a good thing. Hopefully this deal will allow Carell to stretch his creative muscle and bring some quality movies to the box office.
To top things off, Warner Bros. also announced that a sequel to Steve Carell’s comedy GET SMART is in the works! Yes, the movie didn’t exactly blow me away, but neither did the original series right away. So far its grossed $230 million worldwide, a modest success for the studio. Maybe a sequel can improve on the misses the movie had. What I’m most excited about is Steve Carell’s continued success. If anyone deserves it, he does.
