First it was reported that The Ponytailed Warrior was in Robert Rodriguez's MACHETE. Then that rumor was hastily denied by his reps. Now it is being reported that Seagal is, in fact, in talks to be in the film, should "conditions" allow it. Conditions most likely meaning that there be a minimum of 100 neck breaks and sidekicks averaged by Seagal for every 30 minutes of screen time.

If this turns out to be confirmed, that would place Seagal alongside the likes of Robert De Niro, Jonah Hill, Michelle Rodriguez, and the man, the myth, the Machete himself, Danny Trejo. And if this turns out to be confirmed, the level of testosterone in this film may begin to rival THE EXPENDABLES, a film that both Seagal and Trejo were also once rumored to be a part of.

If you are unfamiliar with MACHETE, it all began as a faux trailer within Rodriguez/Tarantino's double feature GRINDHOUSE. Fast forward two years later, and the tale of the ex-Federale out for blood after being betrayed by his former boss will get its own film come 2010. Check out the trailer featured in GRINDHOUSE HERE and our interview with Trejo HERE in which he talks a little bit about MACHETE.

I think that may have been my personal bias coming into play. Cobra has been one of my favorites for a long time and even though I recognize how important the original Rocky is to the whole series, I found the movie itself to be a tad slow and boring. That doesn’t mean it wasn’t a good movie mind you just a personal preference BTW, Stallone only got paid 30K to do Cop Land.
