Summit in talks for rights to “The Perks Of Being A Wallflower”
Apparently not all purchases are going to be coming from Sundance this week.
Vulture is reporting that Summit is currently in discussions to buy up the rights to adapt the Steve Chbosky novel, The Perks Of Being A Wallflower. The film was originally announced last year, with Logan Lerman and Emma Watson in talks for the film’s two leads, and Chbosky himself at the helm, directing the project.
Personally, while it remains to be seen how much of this adaptation will still be placed over at Summit, it really is not all that shocking that a studio like Summit would jump behind a project like this. While they’ve been darlings for films like THE HURT LOCKER, they are still the ones behind projects like the TWILIGHT film franchise, so when talking about studios perfect for a project like this, Summit jumps right to the lead of the pack.
This is currently all that we know of so far, and while it’s not much, expect a lot more about this project to hit relatively soon.
