Sundance officially starts today, and the sales have already started.

The latest film to get picked up is Morgan Spurlock’s documentary, entitled THE GREATEST MOVIE EVER SOLD. Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions has announced that they have nabbed the rights to the film, which will be making its debut at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.

The film looks at “the world of product placement, marketing and advertising through a film financed entirely by product placement, marketing and advertising.” The film will open in April.

With Spurlock’s name being one of the most popular within the world of nonfiction filmmaking, it should come as no shock that his film would be one of the first projects to get picked up out of Park City this year. It sounds like a massively compelling film, and while I’m not a huge fan of a documentarian becoming a character within his films, he is without a doubt one of today’s most interesting filmmakers from the genre.
