Sundance 2011: Trailer and stills from THE PACT

Crammed in with all the big premieres, glitzy parties, and bloggers getting lost in the snow, Sundance also offers a bounty of short film choices. The allure of shorts is really the chance of them - which exciting new director has come to us with ten or minutes of film, just a taste of what's to come?

This year's shorts at Sundance include Nicholas McCarthy's THE PACT, a short he wrote and directed. This will mark McCarthy's third appearance at Sundance, and this time he brings us "a dark ghost story," complete with a possibly haunted house. McCarthy told me that he "wrote and directed THE PACT as an homage to two of [his] favorite horror filmmakers, Val Lewton and Dario Argento." Not too bad, right? McCarthy also said, "It was awesome to channel these two geniuses and I'm looking forward to watching the movie at Sundance with a large audience."

THE PACT stars Jewel Staite (Firefly, SERENITY, Stargate: Atlantis) and Sam Ball (The Event). Check out two more stills from the film and how to see the trailer after the break!

You can see THE PACT's creepy and effective trailer at the film's official Facebook page HERE.

THE PACT will premiere on Monday, January 24, and is playing with Calvin Reeder's THE OREGONIAN.

Big thanks to McCarthy himself for sending us the goods!
