Sundance hit HAPPYTHANKYOUMOREPLEASE gets distribution and release date
2010 Sundance Audience Award winner HAPPYTHANKYOUMOREPLEASE has secured distribution through the film and video division of publisher Hannover House.
The acquisition cost Hannover a cool $1 million dollars and the film will see a release in the select cities of New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco and Dallas on August 27th before expanding to an additional 20 markets nationwide Labor Day weekend.
The film marks the directorial debut of How I Met Your Mother star Josh Radnor. He can also be seen in front of the camera as well along with Malin Ackerman, Zoe Kazan, Pablo Schreiber, Tony Hale, Kate Mara, and Michael Algieri.
HAPPYTHANKYOUMOREPLEASE follows six characters as they deal with relationships and adulthood. Josh Radnor is Sam Wexler, a struggling writer who meets a young boy who has been separated from his foster parents on the subway. Sam takes the boy back to his apartment and an unlikely friendship develops.
Sam's group of friends include Annie (Akerman), who is struggling with commitment issues; Mary Catherine (Kaza) and Charlie (Schreiber), a couple whose relationship is tested by a potential move to Los Angeles; and Mississippi (Mara ), an aspiring musician who intrigues Sam's romantic interest.
HAPPYTHANKYOUMOREPLEASE will be the opening night film at next month's Gen Arts Film Festival in New York City and the centerpiece film of the San Francisco International Film Festival.
