The superbowl kicks off this weekend, and that means a lot of funny and very expensive commercials will play in between. This also means new TV spots and trailers will be showing throughout the breaks during the game. This is like Christmas for movie geeks.

Well, Christmas has come early (or really late depending on how you look at it), as two Superbowl spots for THE LAST AIRBENDER and SHUTTER ISLAND have been released online a little early. I'm assuming these are official since nobody has written the dirty work "bootleg" just yet. Both spots can be seen after the jump!

THE LAST AIRBENDER opens July 2nd. Adapted and directed by M. Night Shyamalan, the film follows Aang (Noah Ringer), who's the last of his kind and must stop the people called the Fire Nation from destroying the Water, Earth and Air Nations. Based on the popular Nickelodeon cartoon series of the same name.

SHUTTER ISLAND opens February 19th. Written by Laeta Kalogridis (NIGHT WATCH) under the direction of Martin Scorsese, the film follows two U.S. Marshals (Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Ruffalo) who head to a barricaded mental hospital for the criminally insane to investigate the escape of a murderess.
